The Society is keen to encourage youngsters into the sport and has started a Junior Section for those under 16. Junior Membership is free to any boy or girl under sixteen provided that they:-
- Are always accompanied on the Society waters by an existing NPS member.
- Are under control by the member who is responsible for their safety and behaviour.
- Hold an Environment Agency rod licence if they are between 12 and 16 – under 12’s do not require an EA licence.
The Junior Section is now headed by Gary Wright, who along with other Angling Trust accredited coaches, holds regular coaching sessions for Juniors. Gary can be contacted on email@example.com
The Society also holds a Junior Competition annually. This is an open competition (open to anyone under the age of 16 on the day of the competition). It’s a great day out and completely free! Every entrant gets a prize, there are trophies to be won, bankside refreshments are provided during the match and there is a barbecue (free to entrants) after the match. There are plenty of Society members on hand to help and everyone says what an enjoyable day it is.
We are pleased that our Junior Section has been supported by an award from Mansfield Building Society (www.mansfieldbs.co.uk), enabling us to train more coaches.
To apply for a Junior membership card, contact the Membership Secretary, Mark Morris via email at firstname.lastname@example.org or complete the relevant sections of the online membership application form which is on this website, stating their full name, date of birth, address and the name and membership number of the supporting NPS member who will be responsible for the Junior member.
